What is Batak
What
is
Batak,
Batak
was
originally
developed
as
a
sports
training
game
for
tennis
players
-
Bat
Attack
but
it
soon
became
obvious
that
Batak
as
it
had
now
become
known
had
a
good
many
other applications.
Notably
Batak
found
its
way
into
various
professional
sporting
fields,
famously
several
Formula
1
Racing
Teams
and
F1
Drivers
are
linked
to
Batak,
Atue
have
worked
with
Jenson
Button
on
more
than
one
occasion
and
in
the
days
when
Jenson
and
Lewis
Hamilton
were
paired
together
at
Mclaren
F1
they
featured
together
in
a
promotional
video
for
Santander.
Premier
League
Football
Teams
also
invested
in
Batak
as
an
agility
training
aid
and
various
well
known
names
are
associated
with
the
use
of
Batak
as
a
training
aid,
we
have
supplied
Batak
Pro
at
the
Carrington
facility
for
the
Manchester
United
first
team
but
this
was
as
a
promotional device for MUTV rather than as a training vehicle.
The
use
of
Batak
as
an
entertainment
device
soon
became
apparent
and
Batak
found
itself
at
conventions
and
team
building
events
all
over
the
UK,
this
led
to
the
development
of
Batak
Lite
and
the
introduction
of
various
improvements
in
the
external
game
appearance
which
switched
from a grey powder coat finish to mirror finish stainless steel, ultra bright
leds
were
fitted
to
the
buttons
and
upgrades
to
the
firmware
became
part & parcel of the Batak specification for both the Lite and the Pro.
Other
versions
such
as
Batak
Duel
and
a
small
tabletop
game
Batak
Micro
have
evolved
from
the
original
Bat
Attack
concept,
for
exhibitions
and
conferences
where
stand
space
and
the
ability
of
shorter
players
or
smartly
dressed
players
to
compete
with
taller
more
casually
dressed
players
on
an
equal
basis
Batak
Lite
has
come
to
the
fore,
for
occasions
where
professional
or
more
experienced
athletes
are
playing
then Pro is the machine of choice.
Batak Pro measures 2080w x 950d x 1950h and features 12 buttons.
Batak Lite measures 1143w x 950d x 1800h featuring 8 buttons.
All dimensions in mm.
Both of these games can be mounted freestanding or bolted to a wall.
Lately
several
companies
have
taken
the
Batak
concept
of
an
electronically
controlled
set
of
buttons
lighting
at
random
to
test
reactions
and
built
more
amusement
specific
games,
Atue
operate
a
tabletop
game
called
Catch
the
Light
which
is
very
similar
to
Batak
but
which
allows
one
or
two
players
to
compete
at
a
time,
other
makers
have
introduced
similar
games
with
very
sophisticated
performance
measuring capabilities integrated into their operating systems.
As
multitouch
screens
become
more
widely
available
it
is
more
than
likely
that
more
and
more
reaction
testing
games
will
become
available
- we already have one, Taps which we run on a 46” multitouch table.
What
are
the
differences
between
Batak
Lite
and
Batak
Pro,
size
and
the
number
of
buttons
is
the
short
answer,
Batak
Pro
is
the
original
machine,
it
has
a
larger
frame
than
Lite
-
designed
to
stretch
players
it
has
twelve
buttons
and
a
larger
frame
to
accommodate
them
,
it
is
a
sizeable piece of equipment and extremely popular.
Batak
Lite
is
the
younger,
smaller
sibling,
it
comes
with
eight
buttons
but
plays
in
exactly
the
same
way
as
Pro,
Lite
is
great
for
exhibition
stands
where
space
is
often
at
a
premium,
if
your
visitors
are
wearing
suits
or
jackets
it
is
less
of
a
stretch
and
it
typically
gives
a
fairer
playing
field for competitors with a smaller frame.
How is Batak played?
Both
Batak
Pro
and
Batak
Lite
(as
well
as
Catch
the
Light)
play
in
the
same
way,
press
the
start
button,
the
game
announces
get
ready
and
the
large,
bright
play
buttons
start
illuminating
at
random,
when
you
press
the
illuminated
button
it
extinguishes
and
another
one
illuminates
straight
away,
press
that
one
and
another
one
illuminates
and
so
on
until
the
game
ends,
the
default
game
-
and
the
most
popular
is
the
30
second
accumulator.
The
game
duration
and
the
score
is
displayed
in
adjacent led displays built into the crossbar at the top of the machine.
